How we test

Every kayak in our rankings has been paddled on real water by someone on our team, or evaluated against detailed manufacturer specs and long-form owner feedback where a hands-on test was not possible. We paddle in every season, in the conditions each boat was designed for.

How we make money

We participate in the Amazon Associates program. When you buy a kayak through a link on this site, we earn a small commission — at no additional cost to you. That commission funds the testing, the gear, and the site itself. It does not influence the rankings. Brands cannot pay to be featured or ranked higher.

What we do not do

We do not accept paid placements. We do not remove critical reviews at a manufacturer's request. We do not rank boats we have not seen or been able to research in depth. If we do not know a boat, we say so.
